Bonus Post: An Update

So much for my strong start to the year. A brief update on our lives.

Theodore has dropped his nap. This is mostly a welcome change, but sometimes he's cranky and I wish he would just nap.

My hair streak is now teal. I rebleached it before dying, so the underneath color is strawberry blonde (Matthias says it's the same color as Rapunzel in Tangled). The teal is fun; I like it.

Our driver's side sliding door has a broken wire and now it's not automatic anymore. Poor children, having to use their muscles to open the door like it's the 1990s.

Christmas letters went out just before Easter. Finally.

Kaitlyn is 7. Gretchen is 9.

We went screen free for Lent and after the first week Matthias managed admirably. He is very excited that Lent is over.

We took a family vacation to Florida at the beginning of March to visit Steve and Murry in their snowbird home. One day saw us driving a couple of hours to visit my Fenton grandparents for the afternoon.

Bryan and I went to Las Vegas (without the kids) at the end of March. We had a good time with Brad and Shantelle and their friend, Ben. Murry stayed at our house and watched the kids for us and I had a small army of helpers to ferry them places.

I ran a 5k in Vegas that turned out to be 3.8 miles because the course was mismarked. Then I ran a properly marked 10k in Carmel, Indiana, on April 9. My friends Jill and Elesha ran a half marathon. Despite the cold and the halfhearted snow/hail/wintery mix, I managed to finish my race in 52:58. I was hoping to break 50, but I'm pleased with how the race went. Then I joined Sarah and Carrie cheering for half marathoners at mile 10.

This week I'm playing with the Adrian Symphony as a sub. One of the pieces is Tchaik 5, which always makes me happy.
