January 7-14

Olivia has a new school responsibility system.  Tired of fighting the school battle, I told her that each day I will put out the work that she needs to do and she can choose when to do it.  If it's not done by the time we eat dinner, then she has to miss whatever Bryan does with them for bed to finish it.  So far she's been putting it off as long as possible, but at least we're not arguing about it all day.

Matthias can sit up well enough to be attended by nothing more than a circle of pillows.  He has found his toes, at least while lying down.  He has hilariously bad depth perception, and I often catch him staring intently while trying to grab something across the room.

We saw a guy hamming it up on a cardboard guitar with a picture of a pizza on it outside Little Caesar's and now Gretchen has found her life's ambition.  She's talking about how she can make a guitar just like it, complete with glued on pizza fabric, so that she can practice tricks in case they give her that job.

Reasons Gretchen wouldn't go outside the one day it was 60 degrees this week:
1. Poison ivy.
2. Bees.
3. Thunderstorms.

We found out this week that Cordelia the Cat is actually a boy, so we're searching for a new name.  The current front runner is... Matthias.

Kaitlyn likes to use my skirt as a blanket.  I have a habit of standing over the vent (see story below) and Kaitlyn enjoys lying on the floor and sticking her feet under my skirt.  She pulls the hem up to her shoulders and if I move she starts exclaiming, "My blanket, my blanket!"

When a stuffed animal got left at our house by a visiting child, Gretchen found it and placed it on the heating vent at the end of the counter saying, "Daddy, I will put Simmy's lizard here so that Mommy will see it when she comes home and give it back to him."  The heater is my home base, apparently.

My Christmas letter went out!  There were two versions of the picture, so check below to see if you got the regular one or the photobombed one.  :)
